Surfing a wave in Gerupuk Bay

Surf Coaching

The Approach

Coaching on land and in the water

Every session starts on land: reading the bay, the tide and the crowd, and setting one clear goal for the morning. Then the boat takes you to the break that fits your level, and the real coaching happens in the water, wave by wave.

Sessions run in small groups of 5 to 7 people maximum, or one on one if you book private. One group per time slot: same boat, same waves, full attention.

All sessions include the board, the boat and full coaching support.

Why Gerupuk Bay

The ideal playground, kept uncrowded by the boat

Gerupuk Bay holds five surf breaks, each with its own personality: gentle inside peaks for first waves, longer walls for building rhythm, and punchier outside reefs when you are ready. Between them, there is a wave for every level, every day of the year.

Because every break is accessible only by boat, you skip the beach crowds. Waka reads the conditions each morning and takes the group where the bay is working best.

The Coach

Meet Waka

Surf coach. Boat captain. Gerupuk local.

Waka was born and raised in Gerupuk, a small fishing village in Lombok, one of the crown jewels of Southeast Asia’s surf scene. He caught his first wave as a child and has been surfing ever since.

Over the past 10 years he has competed in local surf contests, built his own boat, and guided countless surfers to their first and best rides.

When not coaching, you will find him fishing offshore, sharing stories with his community, and living simply by the tide. His calm energy, local knowledge and love for the ocean make him one of the most respected surf figures in the area.
